Candle Care Guide

Your candle is made from a coconut and soy wax blend and to help keep your candle lit (as well as keep yourself safe) please make sure to read this first! :)

 1. Trim the wick to ⅛-¼ of an inch before burning (and every time before relighting your candle).

Soy wax has a very low melting point, so to keep your candle burning longer.. trim . dem. wicks! Also… long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning or flaring.

2. Place your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface.

This prevents possible heat damage to surfaces.

3. Keep the wax pool clean of wick trimmings or any debris at all times.

This prevents rapid or uneven burning or sooting.

4. Snuff your candle instead of blowing it out.

Use a mason jar lid to “snuff” the candle out. The lack of oxygen will cause the flame to go out without all the smoke!

5. Only burn your candle for 2-3 hours at a time.

This will help the candle burn evenly. Again, please remember to trim your wick before lighting it again.

E komo mai • Tuloy kayo

Our business is proudly Hawaiian and Filipino owned. Our aim is to spread the spirit of aloha with our candles and other creations. So whether you've moved off of the islands and want a little piece of home wherever you are, or if you've just fallen in love with the culture and relaxed vibes of Hawai'i, we are here to accommodate you. We believe in cultivating love and respect for the land; by nurturing it, it can give back all we need to sustain life. Every item we make is handcrafted right here on the beautiful island of O'ahu. And because we aim to treat every patron as a part of our Local Kine Tingz ‘Ohana, each project is made-to-order in small batches to ensure it is perfect just for you.

Ka mo'olelo • Ang salaysay

We are Bryson and Kirsten. In 2020, we lost our child in a miscarriage. We were extremely devastated. During our period of grieving, we tried to cope with the loss of our child by picking up different hobbies. We began making items using locally sourced and recycled materials. After showing our finished products to our friends and family, they encouraged us to begin sharing our creations with the world. Since then we have poured our energies into making artisanal crafts such as hand poured coco wax candles, wall decor, soaps, balms and prints. The product that outshined the rest was our upcycled Hawaiian Sun Can Candles. Although the pain of losing our child will never truly go away, we have made peace with the loss and find joy in offering a piece of our hearts. During one the darkest moments of our relationship came light. And that light came from making our candles.
