My First Week in Hawai'i!
It's official! I finally made the big move in with Bryce in Hawai'i!
Aloha kakou (hello everyone)! Kirsten here, and as stated... it's official, I've moved to Hawai'i! A little background information before I move on with this post:
After immigrating from the Philippines when I was 1-year-old, I had always lived in San Diego with my family.
I'm the eldest child in my family and I never left to attend college elsewhere (for reasons I will later reveal).
A year and a half ago I moved out of my parent's house to North San Diego (Oceanside) for my job.
Last November, I met Bryce, we began dating, and after first deciding to move to San Diego with me, we decided that living in Hawai'i would be our best option!
So you can imagine, me moving was quite the bees-knees! I had been planning this move with Bryce since June and man, was it a crazy move! From family coming from Australia and Hawai'i, Bryson's visits, working, and helping plan a wedding (as well as being a bridesmaid) I had heaps of things to do all the while getting ready for the big move! By the end of the month, it was time to say "see ya later alligator" to all that I had in San Diego, and aloha to my new home in Hawai'i.
My first few days were pretty eventful! I ran into some friends I made in New Zealand last year, met up with my existing friends on the island, and immediately began to adjust to my life here by running an enormous amount of errands.
I also lucked out because there were two hurricanes coming towards the islands that luckily dissipated before actually touching us so we have all been basking in this cool windy weather! (and when I say cool, around 70 degrees haha)
The rest of the week consisted of more errands, my work orientation, meeting some new friends on the island and trying out some delicious use treats! Don't worry, I will have all the photos and reviews on these places in the blogs to come. ;)
One of the highlights of the week was finishing up my work orientation and going on the beautiful hike up Diamond Head trail, which gave us such beautiful and breathtaking views of Waikiki. It was about a 25-30 minute hike up the trail, and it was nice and windy going up the mountain. Click here for the blog about our little adventure up Diamond Head, but while you are here, take a look at a few photos from our trek:
We had some free time here and there in which we watched movies with friends (The Lion King, which I liked but was not too impressed with, and Spiderman: Far From Home, which I absolutely enjoyed), hiked up secret paths and went up a tree house that Bryce helped to build! (Sorry no photos of that place or else, people will find out and tag up the spot!) I finally got to climb up my first ever tree house! Oh, and not to forget, the Tattoo Expo here in Waikiki where Bryce got his very first tattoo done! It turned out great and was just what he wanted.
We've pretty much finished up all of the plans we had for our place but the adventure is far from over.
